Maui's best shopping! The
third largest shopping center in the state, Kaahumanu Center is
located 5 minutes from Wailuku. In addition the Maui Market Place,
Costco's and two other shopping centers are all located just minutes
away. These stores offer lower prices then resort shops with infinitely
greater selection. For real bargains check out our local crafters
swap meet on Saturdays.
Sea Life, Snorkeling Sport fishing,
Dinner cruises. The new Maui Ocean Center (and Aquarium)
and Ma'alea boat harbor are just 6 miles from the Inn. Charter
a deep sea fishing boat, take a Molokini snorkel trip, or evening
dinner cruise
Maui's Golf and Tennis.
Golf at Sandalwood, Maui Lani or municipal course Waiehu all
less than three miles away, and at better value than resort courses.
Wailuku is only 30 minutes to any of the other 12 resort and municipal
courses on the Island. Wailuku has 11 municipal lighted tennis
courts. Play for free at the six courts in Wells Park only a five
minute walk from the Inn.
Get that Taste of Maui! Great
"local restaurants and hole in the walls," dine on plate lunch
to gourmet meals. The best include Saigon Café, Sam Choy's, Silk
Road, Norms, Ichiban, Sam Sato's, Tasty Crust, Siam Thai,
The Waterfront Restaurant and Tokyo Tei. All central Maui Restaurants
feature great food at great value. Maui's famous Mochi and Manju
are made in Wailuku too, great for take home omi-yage.
Beaches, Windsurfing. There are beaches five
minutes away but even Maui's finest resort beaches are less than
35 minutes away. We can advise you which are best and even what
time of day to visit them. Windsurfing at hot spots, Kanaha, Hookipa,
or Kalepolepo are only minutes from the Inn.
Hiking Rain forests etc. Check out the Hawaii
Nature Center interactive exhibit, Hike into Iao valley rain forest,
walk to the Iao needle (Maui's most visited site). All located
in Wailuku. Or get a half hour head start on the rest of the visitors
on a drive to Hana.
Helicopter Tours/Airport. Only 4.7 miles
to the Kahului airport and Heliport. When you arrive on Maui it
is only 8 minutes from the airport. You're settled and on your
vacation in less than a half hour after arriving on the Island.
Early morning helicopter trip? No sweat! you're there and back
in 15 minutes.
Historic Sites, Museums, Parks, Culture, Arts
Pre western Contact sites include Kepaniwai site of the battle
in which Maui became part of Kamehameha's united Islands, the
war god temple platforms of Pakukalo. Take in Bailey House Missionary
Museum ( 1833), the Kaahumanu Church, and the Alexander House
in a historic walking tour of Wailuku from the Inn. Neighboring
Kahului houses the Sugar Plantation Museum. In addition the new
Central Maui Park is home to Maui botanical garden. Visit the
Maui Culture and Arts Center's Castle theater for a production
of a Hawaiian Epic like E holo Mai Pele, the amphitheater for
a concert by Bob Dylan or Na Leo Pilimehana, or McCoy theater
for a production by a local theater company.
Central Maui has a flavor of its own, it is convenient
and has a lot to offer. Visitors rarely spend a lot of time at
their hotel or the beach in front of it. Rather during the day
they are off on activities or shopping. Save time, and money while
